My Visiting Card
My name is Mikhail Nokhov. I am a teacher of English in Gymnasia # 1 in a small Dagestan city of Khasavyurt in the Northern Caucasus. I have been teaching English for 40 years. At the same time I am director of the House of Children's Creative Activities. I am a national winner of the Teachers of English competition, held by the American councils for the teachers of English in Russia, and spent two months in the University of South Carolina, taking part in the professional development seminar for the teachers of English from Eurasian countries. In 2005 I took part in the seminar in the Cold War Period in Cambridge UK.
I’m an Honorable Worker of the General Education of the Russian Federation, an Honored Teacher of the Republic of Dagestan. In 2006 I became a National Winner of the Competition of the Best Teachers of Russia. This year I won the Grant of the President of Dagestan for the program “Study of Regional History and Culture at the Lessons at School”.
I’m married and have got two grown up daughters. I have many hobbies, but playing the piano is my favorite.
I have been working in ACCESS school for two years already. What my achievements are: I must say that I have brought up a good team of like-minded students, who are very interesting people, representing different nations of Dagestan. They are all from low income families and families with many children. We understand each other very well and I hope we’ll get good results in our studies.
